Details : This portrait could have been that of a soldier belonging to the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment (3rd Armored Division “Spearhead”) stationed near the Bulge at the end of 1944 after the hard fighting of the Hurtgën Forest. The M-1943 uniform lacked a unit patch on the left shoulder because the regiment was reinforced by elements of the 1st Infantry Division “Big Red One”. The humidity and cold of the autumn began and the battle was far from over.
